Fellows will replace Regan Smith for the Sonoma event in an effort to secure maximum car-owner points on the challenging road course. Fellows, who ran road courses for Dale Earnhardt Inc. in 2003-04, boasts 17 NASCAR Cup starts in his career, with the majority coming on road courses.
Fellows has six career NASCAR starts at Infineon Raceway, scoring a best finish of seventh in 2003, driving the DEI No. 1 car. The specialist ran both NASCAR road courses last season, finishing inside the top 15 in both outings, including a fourth-place finish at Watkins Glen.
Fellows will hit the track for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice and Sonoma County Vintners Pole Qualifying (4:05 p.m.) on Friday, June 20. The 43-car starting grid will take the green flag for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 22.
