Pruett will replace Reed Sorenson for the Sonoma event on the challenging road course. Pruett has made six NASCAR Cup starts at Infineon Raceway, with a best finish of third in 2004.
"It's exciting. It'll be a bit hectic, but any chance I get to do a race in my backyard and be involved with driving the Target No 41 car, it's going to be good," said Pruett. "I talk a lot about how tough this track is and how fun it is, and until today I wasn't planning to race there this weekend. Now I am."
Pruett will do double duty during the weekend, also competing in his primary car, the No. 01 TELMEX Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates Lexus in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series, in Lexington, Ohio. Pruett, and his teammate Memo Rojas, currently lead the Daytona Prototype points standings with four victories so far this season.
Pruett will participate in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice and Sonoma County Vintners Pole Qualifying (4:05 p.m. Pacific time) on Friday before flying to Ohio for the Grand-Am race on Saturday. He'll fly back in time for the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at 2 p.m. on Sunday. For more information or to purchase tickets, be sure visit www.infineonraceway.com or call 800-870-RACE.
