FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals Fact Sheet, July 25-27

What:  
Infineon Raceway will host the top drag racers in the world, July 25-27, for the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series FRAM Autolite Nationals. The weekend will feature professional drag racing in the Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle divisions. 

When: 
July 25-27, 2008. This is the 15th stop on the 24-race series.

Track: 
NHRA dragsters will compete on the world-famous drag strip that features a 660-foot concrete launch pad and is located just 15 feet above sea level.  This combination has helped the Infineon Raceway drag strip become one of the quickest and fastest in the country.

Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle

Tony Schumacher (Top Fuel); John Force (Funny Car); Greg Anderson (Pro Stock); and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle).

What to expect:          
Four track records were re-set at the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals in 2007. Mike Ashley re-set the Funny Car speed record at 326.79 mph; in the Pro Stock division, Greg Anderson smashed the track record with a low ET of 6.605, while Jason Line cracked the speed record with a run of 208.59 mph... In addition to on-track records, John Force nabbed his seventh career Funny Car win in 11 career finals in Sonoma, the most of any NHRA competitor at Infineon Raceway. Force beat his daughter, Ashley, in the first round of eliminations...Greg Anderson recorded his landmark 50th Pro Stock victory in 2007, becoming just the sixth professional and the 10th driver in history to win 50 NHRA races....Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel) has won five of the last 10 Top Fuel championships at Infineon Raceway (1998-2000, 2004-‘05)...Three-time NHRA POWERade Pro Stock world champion Anderson has won three of the past four Pro Stock Championships at Infineon Raceway (2004-'05, 2007).

New for 2008:      
The 2008 NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series will feature an 18-race regular season, followed by a six-race NHRA POWERade Countdown to the Championship playoff. The fields for the championship playoffs will be expanded to the top 10 in each class, up from eight in 2007.  Championship playoff competitors will have their points readjusted and separated in 10 point increments. Class point leaders will receive an additional 20 point bonus. The regular season portion of the NHRA POWERade Series schedule will now be referred to as the Countdown to 10, with the NHRA POWERade Countdown to the Championship playoffs, the Countdown to 1.

Friday, July 25 - Sportsman qualifying and eliminations, begin at 8:15 a.m.; Professional qualifying sessions at 3:15 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 26 - Sportsman eliminations begin at 8:15 a.m.; Professional qualifying sessions at 11:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.
Sunday, July 27 - Pre-race ceremonies, 10 a.m.; Final eliminations begin at 11 a.m.

TELEVISION (All times Pacific)
Saturday, July 26 - ESPN2, 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
Sunday, July 27 - ESPN2, 4 p.m.-7 p.m.
