3Js Motorcycle Days
What began as a simple idea between three friends in 2003 has blossomed into not only a great event for avid motorcycle riders, but also a tremendous charity fund-raiser. Jere Starks, vice president of facilities at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, joined with friends Jim Randolph and Jay Brosius to create the "3Js Motorcycle Days" back in 2003, and to date, the events have raised more than $30,000 for Speedway Children's Charities, the charitable arm of Infineon Raceway. All proceeds benefit qualified youth groups in Sonoma County. The trio branched out in 2005, hosting a "3Js Motorcycle Days" event for AMA rider Vincent Haskovec, who sustained serious injuries resulting from an accident during an AMA event at Infineon Raceway. The special event generated $40,000 for the young rider. "This began as a simple idea but it's really turned into something special," Starks said. "What could be better than running one of the best road courses in the world for a day, and at the same time, helping a charitable cause? It's a great deal." The days are spectacular on Infineon Raceway's twisting road course, as riders get ample time navigating the circuit, with safety always the top priority. It's an event for riders to casually ride the road course, mingle with one another and just enjoy the day, which also includes a tasty catered lunch and T-shirt. The best part is, nearly 100-percent of your entry fee goes directly to charity. I can't remember when I've had so much fun. And I've been to 500 track days and schools in the last 10 years." Lance Keigwin - 12/17/05 "I had a great time, and was grateful to be included in a terrific group." Owen Edwards - 12/17/05 "This event was fantastic, and I was so glad to be part of it. This was my third event and hopefully many more will follow. The chance to be charitable, ride on the track, and hang out with old friends is unique." Ernest Montague - 12/17/05 "Thank you for putting on the 3J's track day and inviting me. I had a great time. It was my first time riding on the track and although I was nervous, the support and encouragement of the lead riders was helpful." Andrea Werth - 7/29/05 "I don't think I've been to a track day that was as fun or ran as smoothly as this one seemed to. There obviously were so many people that donated so much of their time and effort to make this day such a success. I can't thank all the turn workers enough for donating their time and enduring one of the hottest days I've ever seen at Infineon. The breakfast and lunch were top notch." Jim Garrison - 7/25/05
